About me

Hi, I'm Francois Venter, the person behind Francois Creative Designs. I'm a developer, designer, problem-solver, and lifelong tinkerer who believes technology should solve real problems, not create new ones. My path into software development hasn't been traditional. Much of my professional background comes from manufacturing, production, research and development, and process-driven environments. Working in those environments taught me to look closely at how things work, find inefficiencies, and ask whether there is a simpler or better way to get something done.

That way of thinking naturally led me toward software development. I tend to see things as connected systems, so I want to understand how information moves, where people get frustrated, and why a process takes six steps when it could take three. What started with smaller projects grew into websites, internal tools, automation, and complete applications. Today, I primarily work with PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, while continuing to explore infrastructure, deployment, security, accessibility, and AI-assisted development.

I created Francois Creative Designs (FCD) to bring those skills together and focus on practical digital solutions. I'm especially interested in helping small businesses and organizations that need something more specialized than an off-the-shelf product without the complexity of a massive development agency. That might mean building a website, improving an existing system, creating a dashboard, automating a repetitive process, or developing a custom application around the way a business actually works.

A major part of my current development work is the Bridge ecosystem, a growing collection of applications and shared services designed to work together instead of becoming another collection of disconnected systems. It began with Bridge CMS and has grown to include work involving shared infrastructure, identity and authentication, invoicing, licensing, and business management. Bridge is also where I experiment, learn, and challenge myself. Every new component brings new architecture decisions, unexpected bugs, failed experiments, and lessons that make the next project better.

Whether I'm working on a small website or a larger application, my approach stays pretty simple: understand the problem, build something useful, test it, improve it, and keep learning. I believe good software should be reliable, understandable, maintainable, secure, accessible, and pleasant to use. I'm almost always building or experimenting with something new, usually because I've looked at a process and wondered, "Why are we doing it this way?" That's ultimately what drives FCD. I want to build technology that makes sense, solves real problems, and leaves something better than I found it.
